A Partner of the University of Colorado 50+ years, University of Colorado Foundation provides philanthropic support that enables the university to help the community via education, research, and healthcare engagements.

Business Challenge

The reconciliation process during monthly and quarterly closes to ensure accurate account balances for donations, bank accounts, and the general ledger, was taking two to three days. The University of Colorado Foundation Accounting team wanted to reduce the manual effort and length of time for completion of this process to up free staff for other work.

Solution

Vigilant developed an automated solution to download reports and structured data to load into SQL Server, using our Microsoft Power Platform Services. Scripts were built as input to a Power BI dashboard where reconciliation results were displayed. The Accountants could then focus their time on the unreconciled items.

Outcome

The process now completes in 15 minutes and the reconciliation data is ready when the accountant arrives for work.
